We felt it first.
Then we knew
we had to
build it.
Life has a way of surprising us, sometimes sweeping us right off our feet. Not the plan, but often the start of something.
Our StoryIt all started with a sauna by the ocean.
For Saskia, the founder of nünu, that spark came by the ocean near Cape Town, in a wood-fired sauna. Shared warmth, a wide view, the crackle of burning wood.
It calmed her and cleared her mind when she needed it. What stayed with her was the culture around it. How people made the sauna part of everyday life: after the morning run, a cold dip, before coffee. It was where the community met.
Nu means now in Plattdeutsch, spoken in northern Germany where Saskia grew up, and in Dutch, Swedish and Danish too. Being here, now, together and outside became the idea behind nünu.
“Good company, a warm fire, open sky. That's all I wanted to share. So I built a sauna that could take it anywhere.”

Community
We are made to gather.
A sauna has always been more than heat. It's the heart of the community, where everyone meets as equals.
Care
Care you can feel.
The smallest details make the biggest difference. For our guests, for each other, and for the places that host us.
Inclusivity
There is no right way.
Listen to yourself. Stay as long as you like, sit where you like, enjoy it your way. Just leave room for others to do the same.
Inspiration
Where new things begin.
When the body warms up, the mind goes quiet. And suddenly you can hear yourself think.
